RMS of the larynx is quite a rare malignancy and it’s wonderfully covered here. Also as a clinician is there any preference towards either one of the grading systems mentioned here?
The management of pleomorphic RMS is a challenging one.The stage of the disease is important to define the prognosis-for this TNM staging is employed. It is done prior to undertaking surgery. The group staging tells us how completely the cancer has been removed-this comes in after the surgery. At the molecular level we can go in for PAX/FOX01 fusion gene.Ideally both the staging systems tell us how aggressive the management should be.
Pathological grading is also one important contributor.
There is no preference for any of the grading systems-As the management is multimodality all the aspects get covered in each case during decision making.
